i keep a few pads around the shop, is this one meant for soaking up petroleum stuff like oil and fuel?
Question by: Howard P on May 7, 2025, 5:13 PM
Made for petroleum sorbent use, it’s intended to absorb petroleum-based spills like oils and similar fluids. The product is labeled as PETROLEUM SORBENT from New Pig Corp.

what exactly does this sorbent work on, like is it just for oil or will it handle other fluids too
Question by: Ray A on Apr 12, 2025, 6:32 AM
Petroleum-based fluids are what it targets, so motor oil, hydraulic fluid, diesel, and similar hydrocarbons are well within its wheelhouse. It won't absorb water-based fluids the way a universal sorbent would, which actually makes it more effective in wet environments since it pulls in the oil and pushes the water away. For shops dealing with hydraulic leaks or fuel spills, that selectivity is a real practical advantage.

What's the deal with these pads, just soak up oil spills, right?
Question by: Darryl G on Apr 26, 2025, 3:29 PM
these petroleum sorbent pads are designed specifically to absorb oil and other petroleum-based liquids. They're great for cleaning up spills and leaks in a variety of industrial and commercial settings.

These pads only work on petroleum stuff, right? Like they won't pull up water or coolant mixes?
Question by: Jerry B on Apr 25, 2025, 5:46 PM
Petroleum-based fluids are what these are built for. Oil, hydraulic fluid, fuel and similar substances are absorbed well. Water-based fluids or coolant mixtures won't be picked up effectively, so if your spill is a mix, you'd want to keep that in mind when deciding how many pads to deploy and where.

got a little oil spill by the machines, are these pads meant for petroleum stuff or just general cleanup?
Question by: Carl S on Aug 26, 2025, 10:05 AM
For oil spill cleanup in industrial areas, these pads are made to absorb and contain petroleum based fluids, so they are a good match when the mess is oil or similar petroleum products.

So this is just for oil-based stuff, right? Like, couldn't use it for water?
Question by: Steve S on Dec 8, 2025, 6:05 AM
Correct. This sorbent is designed specifically to absorb petroleum-based fluids and isn't intended for water-based spills.
