fitting says it's threaded to American Briggs Standard -- does that mean it'll work with standard NPT pipe threads?

American Briggs Standard covers the same tapered pipe thread profile used across most standard black iron pipe fittings in the U.S. If your pipe is cut and threaded to NPT spec, this coupling should mate up without any issue. The chamfered openings on both ends also help the threads engage cleanly right from the start, so you're not fighting the fitting during assembly.
