Product Questions & Answers

Will this coupling hold up if I'm running some pretty heavy-duty stuff through it?
Question by: Steve H on Dec 31, 2025, 3:50 PM
Crafted from a high tensile iron, this coupling is made to withstand demanding industrial environments.

Does this coupling need thread sealant or tape to go together right, or does it seal up on its own?
Question by: Ray G on Apr 10, 2025, 12:25 PM
Each opening on this fitting is chamfered and threaded to the American Briggs Standard, so assembly goes together cleanly without requiring additional sealant. That said, most installers still apply pipe tape or compound as a matter of habit on threaded iron fittings, and there is nothing wrong with doing so. The chamfering just means you are not fighting the threads to get it started.

got a 2 inch black pipe run and need to join two threaded ends, is this the right kind of coupling?
Question by: Shane T on Jul 21, 2025, 9:49 PM
For tying two 2 inch male pipe threads together, a 2 inch malleable iron coupling like this is the standard go-between. It is threaded to the American Briggs Standard for pipe threads, so it matches common pipe thread specs for a tight connection.
