Product Questions & Answers

trying to hook a british parallel male port to a jic hose end. is this the right adapter or am i mixing stuff up
Question by: Troy P on Aug 4, 2025, 11:00 AM
For that kind of hookup, it’s meant to bridge a 1/2-14 Male BSPP (British Parallel) thread over to a 3/4-16 Female JIC 37 degree flare in a straight adapter. If your two sides match those thread types and sizes, it’s the correct style.

Got a hydraulic line running BSPP on one end and JIC on the other. This adapter gonna bridge that gap without needing any tape or sealant on the threads?

Metal-to-metal contact handles the sealing on both ends, so no thread sealant is needed. The BSPP side is 1/2-14 and the JIC side is a 3/4-16 female with the standard 37-degree flare seat. That flare geometry is what creates the seal on the JIC end, and the BSPP parallel thread does its job on the other side the same way. No tape, no paste, just a proper torqued connection.
