Part number on my old unit is C1DD42, that the same thing as this Permco 2-3/4 2500/5000?

C1DD42 is a listed alternate part number for this unit, so you're looking at the same component. The supplier part number on this one is LZ-0577-20, but C1DD42 will cross right over to it.

got a system that doesn’t need any extra bells and whistles. Is this Permco unit basically just the core component, no add-ons?
