putting this Anchor flange valve in, do i really not need any thread tape or sealant on it?

For this valve, the design is called out as needing no thread sealant, so you do not have to use thread tape or pipe dope as part of the install.

No sealant needed. The design handles that on its own, so you can cut out that step entirely and get it installed faster without worrying about tape or compound.
