Detent valves hold their last commanded position mechanically, so once the solenoid shifts the spool, power to the coil can drop and the valve stays right where it is. That makes this a solid pick for press or clamping applications where you can't have the actuator creeping back on a power interruption. The flush locking override also lets you manually lock the spool in position at the valve body itself, which comes in handy during setup or troubleshooting without needing to fire the solenoid at all.
