Water contamination is one of the more common causes of hydraulic component wear and breakdown. When water gets into the fluid, it degrades lubrication, promotes corrosion inside valves and cylinders, and can cause erratic system behavior over time. A water removal element filters that moisture out before it circulates through and does damage. If your press line has been running rough or you're seeing unusual fluid breakdown, pulling water out of the system is a solid place to start looking.
