Wiper seals sit at the outer end of the rod gland and clean the rod on its way back into the cylinder. Every time the rod retracts, the wiper scrapes off dirt, dust, and moisture before any of that debris can get past the internal seals and into the hydraulic fluid. That's exactly what this Hercules part is built for. It's a standard rod wiper meant for industrial hydraulic cylinder assemblies where keeping contaminants out is the whole job.

On the retract stroke, the wiper’s job is to scrape the rod clean and keep dirt, dust, and moisture from getting pulled into the gland area. That helps protect the internal seals and the hydraulic fluid from outside contamination.
