got a return line that sees right around 90 gpm, is this filter gonna keep up?

For flow, it is rated up to 100 GPM when you are running 150 SUS fluids, so 90 GPM is within the stated capacity.

bypass valve on this thing, when does it actually open up and let fluid through unrestricted?

Cracking pressure on the bypass valve is 30 PSI, and it reaches full flow at 51 PSI. That range gives you a heads-up window before the element is fully bypassed, which is part of why the pop-up indicator is included. Once you see that indicator trigger, the element needs attention before differential pressure climbs high enough to push fluid around it completely.
