got a Permco 3000 series gear pump im rebuilding. is KA-0558-1 the right ring seal for that?

For the 3000 series platform, that's exactly where this seal does its job. It seats at the mating surfaces in the pump assembly and keeps fluid contained under working pressure. Since it comes directly from Permco and is built to their fit and material tolerances for the 3000 series, you're not going to run into the dimensional mismatch issues that sometimes come with aftermarket alternatives.
