what's the break-in procedure on this motor? running it on an auger setup and don't wanna burn it up right out of the gate

Run it at roughly 30% of rated pressure for about an hour before you put it under a full load. Make sure the motor is primed with fluid before you apply any load at all. Skipping that step is usually what shortens the life on these things faster than anything else.

For agricultural augers, this J Series Geroler motor is a good fit. It's designed to be compact but still pack a good punch.

got a J series char-lynn motor here, how do i tell if this one matches up on the mount and shaft?

Fit comes down to the interface details: it uses a 5 bolt mounting flange with 1/4-28 UNF bolts, and the output is a 5/8 inch straight keyed shaft. The work ports are side ports with 9/16-18 straight thread SAE O-ring (UNF-2B) connections.
