got a 3 inch line but need to neck it down, is this bushing the right kind of fitting for that?

A hex bushing is meant to reduce from a larger female pipe thread to a smaller male pipe thread. With this one being 3 x 1-1/4 inch, it’s used to step a 3 inch threaded opening down to a 1-1/4 inch threaded connection.

Threading on this thing, is it American standard or something proprietary? Got a mix of fittings on this job and need to make sure everything plays nice before I order.

American Briggs Standard pipe threads, which is the same as NPT for practical purposes. Every opening on this bushing is precision-threaded to that spec, so it'll mate up with standard pipe fittings without any trouble. The openings are also chamfered, which makes hand-starting the threads easier when you're working in a tight spot.
