Hey, will this here hex bushing work to connect somethin' with a 1/2-inch female thread to somethin' else that's got a smaller 1/8-inch male thread? Just wanna make sure before I order it.

got a 1/2-inch female port but my line is 1/8 male. is this the right bushing to step it down?

Built as a reducing hex bushing, it adapts from a 1/2 inch female threaded port to a 1/8 inch male threaded outlet. The threads are made to the American Briggs Standard for pipe threads so they match up with other compatible pipe-thread components.

fitting's got a 1/2 inch side and a 1/8 inch side, which end goes into the port and which one takes the smaller line?

The 1/2-inch end is the female thread, so that's the side that receives the male thread from your existing port or fitting. The 1/8-inch end is the male thread, meaning it threads into or connects out to whatever smaller component you're stepping down to. So you're threading the bushing into a 1/2-inch female port, then connecting your 1/8-inch male line or fitting into the smaller end.
