does this fitting come with thread sealant already on it, or do i need to apply my own before putting it together?

No sealant is included or pre-applied. The precision of the threading on these fittings is meant to handle specific applications without it, but whether you add your own sealant is going to depend on what you're running through the line and how your setup requires it to be sealed.

got a 1/2 inch line but need to step it down to 3/8, is this the right fitting for that?
