Product Questions & Answers

What size nuts will this thing split? I'm mainly working with Grade 5 and some Grade 8.
Question by: Dale G on Mar 21, 2026, 2:35 PM
For Grade 2 (or A) and Grade 5 (or B) nuts, this splitter handles sizes from 1/2 inch to 1-1/2 inches. It also covers Grade 8 (or C) nuts in the 1/2 inch to 1-5/16 inch range, and Grade 2H nuts from 1/2 inch to 1-1/8 inch.

Got a 1-1/4 inch Grade 8 nut that's been seized up on a piece of farm equipment for who knows how long. This thing gonna handle it?
Question by: Rhonda J on Aug 5, 2025, 6:31 AM
Grade 8 nuts up to 1-5/16 inches fall within the rated hex range for this splitter, so a 1-1/4 inch fits with room to spare. The cutter blade is tool steel and is built to crack the nut without touching the bolt threads underneath. For a fused or rusted-on Grade 8, the process is straightforward: split one side, rotate the tool a half turn, make the second cut, and the nut comes off in two halves. The one-piece cutting frame and heavy-duty cylinder give it enough force to work through even badly corroded fasteners in that size range.
