what kind of seal does this coupling come with, and are there other options if buna-n don't work for my application?

Buna-N is the standard seal material on this coupling, rated for use between -40°F and +250°F. If that range or fluid compatibility doesn't suit your setup, there are alternative seal options available including PTFE, Neoprene, FKM, EPDM, and Kalrez. FKM handles the widest temperature range of the bunch, rated up to +400°F, while EPDM tops out at +300°F. Neoprene drops down to -65°F on the cold end if that matters for your environment.

i got a hose end that’s 1/8-27 female npt, is this the right quick disconnect half for that?

This female half uses a 1/8-27 female NPT thread (NPTF end type) and it is a -02 coupling size, so it matches up to the same thread and size on the mating side.
