what seal does this come with standard, and can it handle petroleum-based hydraulic fluid?

Buna-N is the standard seal material on this coupling, and it holds up well with petroleum-based hydraulic fluids across a temperature range of -40°F up to +250°F. If your application runs hotter or involves a fluid that's harder on rubber, there are upgrade options available including FKM, EPDM, Neoprene, PTFE, and Kalrez. FKM tops out at +400°F, which covers most high-heat industrial situations. Just make sure whichever seal you choose lines up with your specific fluid type.
