what seal material comes standard on these HK series dust caps, and can you swap it out for something that handles higher temps?

Buna-N is the standard seal, which is rated from -40°F up to +250°F. If that range doesn't cut it for your setup, there are several alternatives available. FKM goes up to +400°F on the high end, making it the best choice for high-heat environments. EPDM and Neoprene both push down to -65°F if cold temps are the concern. PTFE and Kalrez are also options depending on what fluids you're running. So yes, there's flexibility built into the product line to match different operating conditions.
