trying to swap out a fitting on my brake setup. is this one a female 3/8x24NF and does it take a 17mm wrench?

Match-up wise, it’s a female 3/8x24NF thread and the hex is 17 mm, so a 17 mm wrench fits the flats.

What's this fitting made out of, and is that gonna hold up in a brake line application?

Brass is the material, which is a solid choice for brake fittings. It resists corrosion well and holds up under the kind of wear you'd expect in automotive brake systems. Brakequip built this one to meet tight quality standards for exactly those kinds of critical applications, so it's not a lightweight part by any stretch.
