Does this banjo fitting need any thread sealant or extra hardware to go in, or does it just thread straight in as-is?

No sealant or additional components needed. It installs without thread sealant, a mandrel, or any secondary hardware. Pretty straightforward job if you've got basic hand tools on hand.
