Does the female end on this thing hook straight up to a standard fire hydrant outlet, or do I need some kind of extra fitting in between?
Question by: Hubert M on Jan 21, 2026, 9:00 AM
The FNST (Female National Standard Thread) inlet on this adapter is made specifically to connect directly to standard fire hydrant outlets, so no additional fitting is needed on that end. The other side gives you a 1-1/2 inch Male NPT discharge, which opens it up to a wide range of threaded hoses and fittings that run on standard NPT connections.

got a hydrant outlet that’s 1-1/2 national standard thread. will this adapter let me hook up to regular npt stuff?

For a hydrant outlet with 1-1/2 in. female national standard thread, the inlet on this adapter is 1-1/2 in. FNST to match that connection, and the outlet is 1-1/2 in. male NPT so you can transition over to common NPT threaded fittings or hose connections.
