what's the duty cycle on this thing? running it at 2000 psi and it keeps getting hot on me

At 2000 psi with the .250" gear pump, you've got about a 30-second run time per 5-minute period before it needs to cool down. At 500 psi you get a full minute before you have to let it rest. That heat buildup is normal if you're pushing past those limits, so keeping an eye on your cycle times will go a long way toward protecting the motor.
