got a hose end that’s #16 FJ. is this the right adapter to mate it up to a #16 MORS port?

Match-up wise, it’s a straight #16 MORS male to #16 FJ connection, so it’s meant for exactly that kind of hookup where you need MORS on one side and a female JIC on the other.

Does this adapter need any thread sealant or special prep before installin it?

No sealant is needed for this one. The FS6402-16-16 is built to make a clean connection as-is, so you can skip the tape and paste. It's a straightforward mechanical fit between the #16 MORS and #16 female JIC ends, and Brennan made it so there's nothing extra required to get it seated and ready to go.
