What size is the hex on this fitting? I need to make sure my wrench will fit.

For wrenching, it's got a 0.750 hex size.

Got a 3/8 tube line I'm trying to connect straight through, does this fitting work both ends the same, or is one side different from the other?

Both ends are identical on this one. You've got 11/16-16 thread and 3/8 inch tube O.D. on each side, so it's a true straight-through connection with no size change from one end to the other. The hex is 0.750 across, which gives you a solid wrench grip during installation. At 1.22 inches face-to-face, it's a compact fit that won't eat up much space in tight hydraulic connections runs.
