got a -05 JIC flare fitting with 1/2-20 threads. is this the right little plug to cap it off?

Both, actually. The T-4 covers -05 JIC and -05 SAE flared fittings since they share the same 1/2-20 thread spec. One plug works for either port type, so you don't have to stock two separate sizes if you're running a mix of both on the same equipment.
