what's the deal with the Dura-Kote plating on this thing -- is it actually worth it for outdoor or wet environments?

Carbon steel fittings without a good surface treatment can rust out pretty quick when they're exposed to moisture or outdoor conditions. The Dura-Kote plating on this fitting is specifically there to push back against that. Aeroquip built it in as a corrosion resistance feature, so yeah, it holds up better than a bare steel fitting would in those kinds of conditions.
