Does this coupling need any thread sealant or extra hardware to get it hooked up right?

No sealant needed for this one. It connects without thread sealant, no ratcheting mechanism, and no mandrel requirement either. Pretty clean setup overall, which makes installation straightforward and keeps the process from getting messy or complicated.
