Dura-Kote plating for superior corrosion resistance|Design flexibility with hundreds of styles to choose from|Higher operating pressures above SAE standards
got a bulkhead fitting setup already, what exactly is this FF9768-08S nut used for?
Question by: Cheryl H on Dec 20, 2025, 1:39 PM
In a hydraulic bulkhead connection, the bulkhead nut is what tightens down on the bulkhead fitting to lock it in place through a panel or wall. This one is an Eaton Aeroquip FF9768 Series bulkhead nut made from carbon steel with a zinc clear trivalent chromate finish and Dura-Kote plating for corrosion resistance.

What kind of corrosion resistance does this nut offer?

Dura-Kote plating gives this bulkhead nut excellent corrosion resistance. That's on top of the zinc clear trivalent chromate finish.

what's the finish on this bulkhead nut, and is it gonna hold up in a wet or oily environment?

Carbon steel parts can be hit or miss out in the field depending on how they're coated, but the FF9768-08S uses a zinc clear trivalent chromate finish with Eaton's Dura-Kote plating on top of that. That combination is specifically built for corrosion resistance, so exposure to moisture and hydraulic fluid in normal industrial conditions shouldn't be a problem.
