trying to swap a fitting on a tight little hydraulic run, is this elbow the same size on both ends?

Both ends are -04 size on this 90 degree elbow, so it is a same-size fitting meant for compact routing when you need to turn the line at a right angle.

Correct on both counts. One end is a female flat-face swivel, the other is a male O-ring boss, and they're both sized at -04. The swivel end lets you get it lined up without having to twist your hose or line to match, which saves a lot of grief in tight spots. The O-ring boss side seals at the port itself, so you get a solid leak-resistant connection on that end.
