what industries is this adapter actually built for? trying to figure out if it's appropriate for our processing line

Carbon steel with Dura-Kote plating makes this one a solid fit for some pretty demanding environments. It's rated for marine, military, offshore drilling, chemical processing, food and beverage, and pulp and paper applications. The corrosion resistance is the main reason it holds up across all those different settings. If your processing line falls into any of those categories, this adapter was built with exactly that kind of use in mind.

that's correct. This adapter is male on both ends with ORS (O-Ring Straight) fittings.

got two ORS ports i need to tie together in a straight shot. is this the right kind of adapter

For an inline connection, it’s a male ORS to male ORS straight adapter, so it’s meant to join two ORS (O-Ring Straight) fittings end to end with a straight-through flow path.
