got a 1/2-14 npt port on my tool, does this plug screw right in or am i missing something?

The threaded end on this male half is 1/2-14 NPT female, so it mates with a 1/2-14 NPT male thread on your hose or tool. The coupling side is a push-to-connect -08 (1/2 inch) FF Series interface.

we got old equipment running 3/8 HTMA couplings. is this going to hook up to those or is it just for 1/2 inch

Your existing 3/8 inch HTMA couplings will mate right up with this plug. Even though it features 1/2-14 NPT female threads for your hose connection, the quick disconnect face itself is an interchangeable -08 size built to the global ISO 16028 standard.

been looking for something to swap out on my skid steer attachment lines, does this coupling work with HTMA fittings in the 3/8" size?

it's fully interchangeable with HTMA couplings in the 3/8" size, so it should drop right in without any adapter fuss. The interface also meets ISO 16028 dimensional requirements, which is a widely accepted standard across construction and ag equipment. The thread end is 1/2-14 NPT female, so just confirm your hose or port is male NPT on that end before ordering.
