trying to replace an adapter i pulled off a small line, how do i know this one matches up right

Fit comes down to the two ends and their thread sizes. This adapter is 1/8-27 female NPTF on one side and 7/16-20 male SAE O-Ring Boss on the other, in a straight (non-angled) body style.

got a valve port that’s 1/8-27 female NPT. is this the piece that’ll step me over to a 7/16-20 ORB?

For that setup, you’re on the right track. This adapter is a straight Danfoss / Eaton 2216 series fitting that goes from 1/8-27 female NPT on one side to 7/16-20 male SAE O-Ring Boss (straight thread O-ring) on the other.

Marine, military, chemical processing, pulp and paper, food and beverage, and offshore drilling are all listed applications for this adapter.
