what's the torque spec on this thing, and does it need anything special to seal up right at the port?

Torque range on the male half is 30 to 60 lb-ft. For sealing at the port face, it uses a copper-crush gasket that seats directly against the port, so you're not relying on thread sealant or tape to make that connection. The FKM seal material on this male half side handles the internal sealing. Just get it into that range and the gasket does its job.
