Does this fitting work for air tools, or is it more of a general hydraulic connections thing?

got a female NPT on one side and need to end up with a male NPT, both 3/8. is that what this is?

Built as a female NPT to male NPT adapter with both ends sized 0.375 inch, so it’s meant for a 3/8 NPT female on one end and a 3/8 NPT male connection on the other.
