got a tight spot to snake this through, how sharp can i bend it without kinking it

For routing, the minimum bend radius on this tubing is 1.5 inches. Staying at or above that bend radius helps keep it from kinking and keeps airflow where it needs to be.

tubing says it's for air brake systems -- does that mean it won't hold up on a plain auxiliary air line, or is it fine for both?

Both applications are covered with this one. It's rated for truck and trailer air brake systems as well as auxiliary air systems, so running it on a non-brake air line is well within its intended use. The polyamide construction with polyester yarn reinforcement gives it durability across those setups, and it meets SAE J844, J1131, J2494-3, and DOT-FMVSS 106, which covers the range of commercial vehicle air system requirements.
