Product Questions & Answers

fitting says "short pilot" on the o-ring end -- does that affect how it seats against the port compared to a standard pilot length?
Question by: Lance P on Aug 23, 2025, 6:55 AM
Short pilot just means the o-ring boss thread engagement area is slightly shorter than a full-length pilot version. For most standard SAE O-Ring Face Seal ports, it functions the same way in terms of sealing, but the shorter pilot can make installation easier in tight spaces where a longer pilot would be awkward to start threading. The o-ring on that end handles the actual seal, so pilot length is more about physical clearance and ease of engagement than sealing performance.

trying to build a -12 A/C hose and need a 90 elbow, is this one the 7/8-14 female o-ring short pilot deal?
Question by: Wayne R on Dec 19, 2025, 10:26 AM
It matches a 7/8-14 female O-ring seal (ORS) port with a short pilot, and it’s made for -12 hose in a 90 degree elbow configuration.

Will this fitting work with just any old hose, or does it need something special?
Question by: Dustin H on Dec 22, 2025, 10:37 AM
It needs Aeroquip GH134 Multi-Refrigerant hose. Using other hoses might cause leaks or be unsafe.

trying to swap a low-side A/C hose end, is this the 90 degree short-pilot female o-ring fitting for a -12 hose with 7/8-14 threads?
Question by: Dwayne G on Apr 13, 2025, 7:12 AM
It matches a -12 hose E-Z Clip nipple assembly with a 90 degree elbow and a 7/8-14 female O-ring (short pilot) connection. It also calls out a 1.89 inch drop dimension, so the elbow offset is built around that geometry.

what tool do i need to close the clips on this fitting? got the hose cut and nipple in but not sure if any regular pliers will do the job
Question by: Donna F on Jan 22, 2026, 4:56 PM
You'll need the FT1357 Clip Closing Pliers specifically for this. Regular pliers won't position squarely on the clip connection points the way that tool does, and staying square during the close is what makes the connection reliable. The pliers need to sit flush on those contact points and hold that position all the way through. Using a substitute risks an uneven close, which can compromise the whole assembly.

So, this fitting here, it's good for a -12 hose, right? Just wanna be double sure before I order.
Question by: Terry P on Oct 27, 2025, 10:49 AM
Yes, this E-Z Clip series fitting is indeed designed for use with a -12 hose.
