got a line running 40 GPM continuous and need a check valve with 1-1/4 NPT threads -- will this one hold up to that kind of flow without issues?

At 40 GPM you're well within the rated flow capacity here, which tops out at 50 GPM. The steel body construction and 3000 PSI max operating pressure give it plenty of headroom for that kind of continuous hydraulic service. Just keep in mind this valve is built for low shock conditions, so if your system sees high-velocity reverse flow that could generate shock, you'd want a different solution. For steady, controlled flow in that range it should perform reliably.
