got a 1/4 npt line, is this check valve the right size and which way does it flow

With 1/4 NPT ports, it matches standard 1/4 NPT hydraulic connections, and it is meant to let hydraulic fluid flow freely in one direction only while blocking reverse flow.

got a hydraulic line on a die casting setup running 1/4 NPT fittings -- will this check valve thread right in without needing adapters?

Standard 1/4 NPT threads on both ports, so it should thread directly into your existing fittings without any adapters in between. The inline design keeps installation pretty straightforward. Just make sure your line pressure stays within the 3000 PSI rated limit and you're good to go.
