Will this valve work okay with regular hydraulic fluid, or do I need something special?

It's rated for mineral oil within a temperature range of -4°F to 158°F. It can also handle water-based fluids, but the temperature range changes to +50°F to 129°F.

got a D03 manifold already, is this valve gonna bolt right up or am i chasing adapters

With the ISO/DIS 4401-AB-03 (NFPA D03) interface, it mounts on a standard D03 subplate or manifold without adapters, assuming your manifold is the same D03 pattern.

Running this on a 12V DC system off a skid we got at auction, does the coil pull enough to shift reliably at that voltage, or do we need to run a separate supply?

Twelve volts DC is exactly what this coil is rated for, and the dual 6.3mm spade connection makes wiring straightforward on most skid setups. The coil draws 30 watts, so your power supply just needs to handle that load consistently. What can affect shift reliability more than voltage is fluid cleanliness, this valve calls for 19/17/14 micron filtration, so if that auction skid has older filters or a dirty reservoir, getting those sorted first will do more for dependable operation than anything else.
