got a 1/4 npt port on a manifold, will this gauge screw right in or is it some oddball thread

It uses a 1/4 NPT connection and the connection material is brass. It is a center back connection style, so it mounts from the back of the gauge body.

accuracy on this thing any good? running hydraulic lines on some pretty demanding equipment and can't afford a gauge that drifts all over the place

Accuracy runs at plus or minus 3% over the first and last quarters of the scale, tightening to plus or minus 2% through the middle half. For most hydraulic work that middle range is where you'll spend most of your time anyway, so readings stay solid where it matters. Just keep your normal operating pressure between 25% and 75% of the full scale and you'll get consistent results without fighting drift.

Is the 1/4 NPT connection on the back or the bottom? Just trying to figure out how it'll sit on my setup.

The connection is located on the center back of the gauge, which should help with versatile mounting options for your setup.
