Will this wiper keep dirt from gettin' in my cylinder?

That's exactly what it's designed for. The Hercules rod wiper is made to keep dirt and other stuff from damaging the cylinder rod as it moves back and forth.

On a hydraulic cylinder, a rod wiper sits where the rod moves in and out and wipes off dirt, debris, and other foreign material so it does not get pulled into the cylinder and cause damage or shorten service life.
