Will this nipple work to connect a BSPT fitting to an NPT one?

That's exactly what this Adaptall nipple is for. It has a 1/4" BSPT male end and a 1/4" NPT male end, so it'll bridge that gap for you.

For joining those two thread types, it gives you a 1/4 inch BSPT male on one side (R 1/4 - 19) and a 1/4 inch NPTF male on the other (1/4 - 18), in a straight steel nipple.

both ends on this are 1/4 inch, but one's BSPT and the other's NPT, that right? just wanna make sure before I order

That's how it's set up. One end is 1/4" BSPT male with an R 1/4-19 thread spec, and the other end is 1/4" NPT male running a 1/4-18 NPTF callout. Both are male, so keep that in mind when you're planning your connection points.
