bore says 2.50 inches -- does that mean the piston diameter is also 2.50, or is there a difference I need to account for when ordering?

The piston diameter for this seal is listed at 2.499 inches, so there is a slight undersize compared to the bore. That gap is intentional and accounts for proper fit. The bore tolerance runs +0.004/-0 inches, and the groove width tolerance is +0.005/-0 inches. Those dimensions are also specific to pistons without wear rings, so if your setup uses wear rings, this particular seal is not the right match.
