does this hose mender need any thread sealant or special tools to get it put on right, or does it just push on?

No sealant and no mandrel required. The socketless design on this brass mender lets you work it onto compatible hose without any of that extra fuss. Both ends measure 0.75 inches, so as long as your hose matches up to a -12 size, you're just pushing it on and getting back to work. That's really the whole point of the socketless style.

It's made for a -12 size hose, which means both ends are 0.75 inches.
