Is this fitting okay for pumping water, or is it more for something else?

These combination nipples are recommended for low-pressure discharge and suction service when you're working with compatible liquids.

fitting's made from brass, will that hold up okay running water or light chemical liquids through it at low pressure?
Question by: Sherry W on Sep 22, 2025, 9:25 PM
Brass tubular stock is a solid choice for low pressure liquid discharge and suction work. It handles compatible liquids well in those conditions. Just keep in mind this particular fitting is not rated for steam, and at 1-1/4 inch and above it should not be used with compressible products like air or nitrogen. Stay within those boundaries and it'll do the job fine.

got a 1-1/4 inch hose I'm trying to connect up to a male NPT fitting on a pump discharge line, will this nipple work for that kind of setup?
Question by: Terry R on Nov 25, 2025, 9:59 AM
For low-pressure discharge service with compatible liquids, that's exactly the kind of application this fitting is built for. It steps from a 1.25 inch hose ID on one end to a 1-1/4 inch male NPT thread on the other, so the sizing lines up for what you're describing. Just keep in mind the actual working pressure you can count on will depend on the hose construction, how many clamps you're using, where they're placed, and the product you're moving through the line.
