fitting says it works with nylon and polyethylene tubing, does that cover both PT230 and PT240 material types or just one of em?

Both are covered. The fitting is compatible with PT230 and TP160 nylon tubing as well as PT240 polyethylene tubing, so you've got options depending on what you're running. Just make sure your tube OD is 3/8 inch and you're good to go.
