got a run of 0.16 tube and need to tee it off, is this the right kind of fitting for that?

For branching one line into two, a union tee is the right style. This one is a Danfoss and Eaton Push>Connect union tee made for 0.16 inch tube OD, and it’s called out as compatible with PT230 and TP160 nylon tubing and PT240 polyethylene tubing.

Will this tee fitting hold up to being used with air tools?

These fittings are designed for compressed pneumatic lines, so they should work fine with air tools, up to 250 psi depending on the size of the tubing you're using.
