Will this work with nylon tubing, or is it just for metal?

This fitting's made to work with PT230 and TP160 nylon, plus PT240 polyethylene tubing.

got a half inch nylon line, do i need any tools or clamps to hook this union up?

For this push to connect union, assembly is tool free. You just push the tubing into the fitting to make the connection. To take it back apart, press the collet ring in with two fingers and pull the tube out.
