got a 3/8 inch air brake line i need to tee off of with a 1/4 NPT port on the branch -- this fitting do that?

That's what this one's built for. The run ports take 3/8 inch OD tubing and the branch is a 1/4-18 male NPT swivel, so you can connect a port or sensor off that branch while keeping the main line flowing through. Push the tubing straight in until you feel it bottom out and you're done. To pull it back out, just press the collet head in and the tube releases clean.

Will this fitting hold up okay in an air brake system on a farm truck, you think?

This Push>Connect fitting is made from CA360 brass and has an Ethylene Propylene O-ring, so it should offer moderate vibration resistance in an air brake system. It's also designed to handle pressures from vacuum all the way up to 150 psi, which should cover most farm truck applications.

The run side is for 0.38 inch tube OD (3/8 inch). The branch is a 1/4-18 male NPT swivel connection.
